Drawing class, week 6

One of the main events of the day was to be the one-to-one sessions (rather like prison visiting??) - The other event was learning how to photograph our 3D (and 2D) work, like these stage sets people made the day before -
While half the group was getting to grips in one part of the room
the others were having professional instruction (later we switched tutors). Andrew has photographed the work of Damien Hurst etc, and watching him set up and get on with it was most instructive because, as with all professional practice, what he did was so ingrained that he might not think to explain every little thing - but someone with a little knowledge of the job in hand could pick up subtle differences - for example, intuitively knowing just where to put the lights, not just in terms of height and distance but also angle (this was something he did explain so it's perhaps not the best example).
In the afternoon, we underwent the promised tutorials and a chance to work on the altered book project, or catch up with the "self-reflective journal" in which we record what we've done in each session under as many of these categories as we can stretch to: Research (visual and contextual); Sources; Form; Content; Process; Conclusion (the final product); Analytical; Evaluative; Projective.
Elsewhere in the room, the forest of easels. When in use, they fill the room.
