This is one of a series of "splinter quilts" I made (or started) in 2003-4. With this method, the plain squares are cut in several places and coloured strips - here some of them have been pieced - are inserted, either randomly or following a plan. The resulting block usually has to be trimmed and then larger blocks are joined. This one has bits of glittery fabric (how Christmassy!).
Hi Margaret! I looked at the blowup of the photo and still can't figure out how you made this! Is is backlit, so we're seeing the shadow of the seam allowances on the back of the quilt? Or are the seam allowances on the front? Either way, it's striking. nice work!
