Striking, but mysterious

All I can find out about this artist, Noriko Ito, is that the medium is "tie-dye". Though I'm not sure that the piece shown here (found on the internet, source lost...) is shibori. It does give me ideas about cutting apart and joining together, especially after seeing Judy's woolen quilt - which started with strips of old blankets.
