Nerines

Stopping for a moment to "smell the roses" - and admire these late-flowering wonders, which have shot up on long stalks. The recent windy weather hasn't done them any favours - instead of being 80cm tall they are now 80cm long, and almost smothered by the rampant nasturtiums (which continue to flower cheerfully).

  1. Margaret, these look a lot like what we used to call "naked lady lilies." do they put out foliage in the spring, die back in the warmth of the summer, and then product the flowers almost as a miraculous afterthought in the late fall?
