The arrival of Dijanne Cevaal's "Seventy two ways not to stipple or meander" coincided with being about to throw out a bunch of images of large-scale silks - so before looking at the CD I doodled some quilting lines based on the silks. Now to see how they translate -- I have a large fabric-batting sandwich ready for practising. In between onslaughts, it covers the sewing machine.

I bought the book and thought it was wonderful with lots of ideas and a refreshing look at the problem of what to do. It's like doodling with a pencil - an idea that had never really occurred to me as I was too caught up in making the patterns perfect with no crossing lines etc. (there's a review on my blog somewhere!)
how cool is that! it looks great with all the different designs and practical too. I got dijannes book too out of interest as I'm not a quilter but come to fibre art from a painterly persuasion, and found it quite liberating that I could possibly quilt too! Now you've egged me on to get the fabric out and try my own machine cover :) thank you
