This handmade book emerged recently. I'd gone through a backlog of issues of Kew magazine, trying to take just one image from each magazine before recycling it. A couple of the magazine covers were used for the book's covers. To make the book, I folded sheets of (photocopy) paper not quite in half, folding the extra to make a narrow tab that could be glued to the next sheet.
Then the saved pictures from the magazines were glued in, usually one to an opening.
The covers were cut to the width of the book, and tops folded over, then other thin card glued over that to make a flat tube. The first (and last) page of the book went into these tubes, and another piece of folded card (the height of the book), inserted into both "tubes", becomes the spine - removable to allow the book to spread out. In case that sounds a bit confusing, here's a view from above, with the spine partly removed -
