Coptic stitch joins some squished cans rescued from the street. You do need to gather quite a few before two the same size are available.
The shape of the paper resulted from drawing both outlines on top of each other, and then cutting the shape so it would fit "inside" both.

Brilliant idea - now if I was still making work about litter...
And better, than picking up cans from the street, drink Guinness [sp?] till I get two the same.
