After hemming some trousers, I had some 4" wide chunks of black wool, the cut-offs, on hand. And in my sketchbook were these thumbnails of ladders -A bit of cutting, a bit of overcasting while watching TV, a bit of sandwiching on my newly-clear workbench, a bit of machine quilting -
- and hey presto, the April journal quilt!
Handstitching on wool is delicious to do. Dark wool is easy to find in charity shops (my preferred source of fabric) - white wool is rare.
