Experimenting with stabilotone crayons

The cardboard coffee cup cried out to be used for rubbing. The Stabilotone crayons are lovely and waxy, and soluble in water. Soluble crayons came onto my radar through Judy Hooworth's workshop, where we used them on paper and on fabric. I wonder whether these marks will stay on the fabric, or rub off, or fade, or need to be heatset...

Some info on lightfastness, with links to other info on using these crayons, is here. The 60-colour Stabilotone range is now defunct and has been replaced by the 18-colour Woody range. (Cutbacks everywhere...)

The top section is sprayed with water and ironed dry - it's soaked through to the other side.
The bottom corners were dipped quickly into water with, as you'd expect, much more dispersion. Ironing before or after wetting hasn't fixed the crayon.

So - a useful medium for collages that can be kept away from moisture.

oh no, I didn't realise the Stabilo woody range was being reduced so dramatically... I just discovered them earlier this year...
