My biggest gripe about my workspace is that, apart from early on summer mornings, the northeast-facing room is gloomy - made moreso by the trees in the garden next door. I love the greenery, but aging eyes need light!
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are" - so here it is, my daytime handwork spot - a big piece of wood on an adjustable-height ironing board, near the window. You can't see the boxes of nicely-organised threads that live under the ironing board - the chair fits in nicely among them. And the radio is off to the right, not that I ever change the station away from Radio 4.
Best of all, the messier bits of the room will be out of sight behind me.
