The printed fabric plus the scraps will make several more "journey" journal quilts. This method of working is perfect when even small scraps are precious -- sometimes an inch of vivid pink will make all the difference -I laid out the basics -
and then played around with scraps for quite a while. It helped to go away from the work - then on return, to take half (or more) of the little bits away. I'll spare you the various versions; these are finished, except for the binding -
But when I trimmed the edges to get the 7x10" size, those border strips looked almost too good to throw away. Laying them side by side, I found ship-shapes emerging -
and quickly stitched them down.
It had to be done immediately, rather than have these little bits gathering dust somewhere. (A bit like those leftovers that turn blue at the back of the fridge, before getting thrown out a month later.)
