Book du jour

More flexagons, and rather unsuccessful at that. Yes it's fun to open them and see a different configuration appear - but ... so what? They don't work well with a "sameish" all-over pattern like this. Each surface needs to have two elements to juxtapose or interchange in order to maintain interest; the reader/viewer is trying to make up some sort of story as they look through this book/thing...

Juxtaposing bits of maps definitely is a nonsense!

Hi margaret

What is you drew into second surface- making the map as you see or feel it is rather than the actual map- ie improving it and creating your own legend of meanings and symbols- use the maps as background- so that there are two stories running concerrently. ahh you are getting me enthused about book making again- just need to stretch time....

Dijanne, the overlay is one or more screenprints of my journeys on various parts of the underground - the result is more about aesthetics than about meaning. I've made several dozen of these overprinted maps, in various configurations and colours - some work better than others...
