A deadline focuses the mind

After years of purchasing a piece or two of fabric, or a bag of scraps, at the Bring & Buy table at quilters' meetings, I'll be changing my tune.

Next meeting is Saturday and I'll be helping out with the B&B table, not just by taking the money but by supplying lots of fabric.

This is the starting point -
With any luck, the pre-folded red and green drawers will take less time than the "just put it in" yellow and blue drawers.

First was the yellow drawer - I'm keeping the 3 or 4 fabrics in the foreground, and the fabric still in the drawer is recycled or non-quilty. (I'm not sure if reclaimed fabric, however carefully cut and pressed, will be "suitable" for quilters; and the non-quilty will go into bags for the charity shop, labelled "craft fabric", or will be offered on freecycle.) The other bits have be carefully curated into bags of coordinating scraps (with a few surprises).
I got so caught up with "making it nice for someone else" that I had no pangs about disposing of the fabrics.

Today, rising from my bed of sniffles and coughs, I did much the same with the blue drawer --- with the additional element of ironing the fabric.
 I'll take a trolley-full, that'll make a good start.

Having a quick peak in one of the top drawers (ie, rarely opened) revealed this -
which was fun to make but need not detain us further...

And this -
A sizeable batik with the wax still in it; definitely a candidate for the bin, but "not just yet".

These, from a course with transfer colours and a heat press, will go to a friend, if and only if she wants them -

Finally, these hexagon eraser-prints are snug in a bag, ready for a new home -
As for the other drawers, I'll do as much as I can in the time available, and if it's too much to carry this time, it'll wait till the next Regional Day.

Then there are the dress lengths.........

I am sorry to hear you have a cold. I am just getting over one and it is no fun. I hope you feel better soon. You are making nice progress on sorting your fabric. I am sure your treasures will be snapped up from the B&B table! I did a bit of sorting myself this weekend and found some fabric that needs a new home.
