It's real name is the Strand underpass, and it was built in 1961 within part of the former tramway subway. Sunday found bit of a traffic jam in the tunnel - lots of brake lights reflected on walls as cars started and stopped - it was a relief to get out into the air again.The old tram tunnel is much more interesting - not too long ago it was open for the "Chord" exhibition.
