A near-ouch experience

As the needle went down, there was a crunch - it sewed another stitch, and there was an even more dreadful crunch ... the machine juddered to a halt ... I espected the needle to be broken, but it wasn't  -- it had sewed right through the head of the pin, which was in exactly the right place (hidden inside the layers).

Watch out! Plan ahead when you put in those pins!
