The week started with a very productive studio meeting, and not just in terms of consumption of chocolate biscuits -
Kiln wiring was sorted out, insurance is under review, and we have a temporary outside light for those pitch-dark evenings -Another improvement in the yard is the removal of the stanchions, over which a former member of the studio tripped one dark night, breaking her arm. And some space heaters are on order.
Lots of glazed pots are waiting for a stoneware firing - in fact there will be two such in the near future -
I'm trying to get as many pots ready for firing as possible, and if you look closely at this photo you'll see some flowers that have been dipped ... not with such good results, but it's an experiment ...
And another eight waiting to be dipped -
Dipping action -
This one, pleated and steamed organza, stretched and stretched, weighted down by the slip, and then collapsed. I resorted to using the hair dryer on the top part, then gradually downwards.
Not so much a disaster rescued, but a door opening on a possible way of making larger, taller work. Let's see if it survives the kiln!
The big kiln is packed with glazed work of tremendous proportions - and my tiny pots tucked in round the edges, some of which were dipped back in August.
I won't be there when it's opened, and there are sure to be some surprises among the results.
Keeping track... |
