A talk at the British Library in conjunction with its Magnificient Maps exhibition. Fascinating to find out about the layers of history in an area that you know only superficially.
The Ossulston estate beyond the library, for example, was based on Viennese workers' housing.
The talk inspired me to get out some old maps, like this large composite of 19th century maps (it shows south London too, but this section is the bit I travel round in) -
All of this is built over now.
