This is "Winter Dawn" - but in the photo, what is supposed to be clouds looks more like hills in a landscape - "June Rain" started from splodgy hand-dyed fabric with a monoprint (the lines of rain were made with the edge of a credit card) and some scraps of batik and organza. It was hard to know when to stop adding lines of machine stitch - and it took ages to tie together all the ends on the back, but that had to be done to keep the ends of the stitching smooth. In the photo I can see some areas that need just a few more lines of stitching - somehow that's not as apparent in the actual piece -
Because this will be mounted, I didn't bury the tied-off ends, just cut them. The tying took almost as long as the laying out and sewing.
And I was amazed at how long it took to finish the edges. I use an A4-sized piece of paper to sew round, then trim with a rotary cutter. Next, narrow open zigzag holds a thin cord round the edges, and finally wider, close zigzag finishes the edge. That takes about half an hour per quiltlet.
