What is now the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity shop was once Andrews furniture store. The buildings next to it were damaged in the V1 rocket explosion of 27 June 1944 and eventually torn down.
The building would have been to the left of this view of Highbury Corner in 1905, if indeed it existed then. In all the times I've passed the "Thos Lea" building, I've not noticed it, or its successor. Aha, it too was damaged by the V1 explosion, as was the three storey building adjacent; eventually both were razed.
"Andrews" also appears in the windows above the old station - the first floor was used as storage by the furniture store until the building was demolished in the 1960s -
