Inky books and feathers printed with letterpress, 2012. |
They sit in a golden bowl on top of the bookcase, gathering dust. I love them as objects in themselves, and for their contrast when together - not just the visual contrast (dark/light), but also the tactile contrast (soft/hard, the kinesthetic contrast (weight), the solidity, the process of making the obliteration of lettering in the books versus the unexpected appearance of lettering on the feathers. Is it whimsical to think that these might be wishes to be scattered by the wind?
