Shards

During recent walks across Hampstead Heath I've spotted pot shards and bits of old glass sticking out of freshly turned earth - and couldn't resist collecting them - some large ones this week -

and smaller ones last week -
Apparently there are some Victorian rubbish tips in the area.

The glimpses of patterning and colour intrigue me, as do the shapes of the pieces and areas of wear. The obvious use is for mosaic ... not yet ...
