Stitched portraits

Audrey Walker's large stitched "portraits of situations" have always intrigued me. I like the psychological tension in them - and the superb execution. See more here.

Of the reverse of the work, she says the 'messy' threads are a metaphor for the aspects of ourselves that we keep hidden.

Both artists trained as painters. Their work depends on a comprehensive knowledge of shade and especially tone.
